This colouring book features two very old and well-known Ukrainian fairy tales:

• “The Sparrow and the Bush” tells about a Sparrow (chick) that is persistent in its endeavours to get a free swing from a Bush.
• “The Little Straw Bull” is about a canny Old Woman whose ingenuity sets her and her Old Man up to live comfortably for the rest of their lives.

Incidentally, in the 19th century both fairy tales were translated into English by Robert Nisbet Bain.

The original and captivating illustrations by Svitlana Soldatova give the ancient stories a modern and humorous touch.
